New Beginnings is book three in the Cutter’s Creek series by author Annie Boone. The setting is Cutter’s Creek 1880. The town of Cutter’s Creek is a lot like other small towns, everyone knows what’s going on in everyone’s family. So when two new women and a child show up the town starts talking.Caleb Jefferson has been a widower for six years. He blames himself that his wife died. If only he had not been so busy with his work he could have saved his wife. He felt guilty and he simply couldn’t let go of the past.
Audrey Norris and her mom, Kathleen Riley were widows. When their husbands died they became penniless, so Audrey answers an ad for a marriage of convenience.
This book can be read as a stand-alone in less than a day. I loved this quote from the book and I believe it sums up the story, “Always remember that what is done cannot be undone. You can only face what comes next.”
I recommend this book to fans of western romance.

I read so many novels about Cutter's Creek that I believe I belong there.
The stories are so "actual" even if Cutter' s Creek is fictional ... where I want to move. The way people live, work, fall in love, just the way I would like to live.

This is a very good book. He has felt guilty that his wife drowned 6 yrs earlier and has a daughter. His sister says his daughter needs mother and he finally agrees to get a Mail Order bride. She is a widow for a yr and has a young daughter & her other lives with them.
They get along fine - except when his guilt surfaces - now not just the guilt of his wife drowning but the guilt of replacing her.
A lot of this story is about his finally coming to realize that he was not at fault with the drowning of his wife.
Audrey's husband Sam dies and leaves her bankrupt without a means of support for her, her daughter and her mother so she answers a mail order bride ad to go to Cutter's creek to marry Caleb, a widower with a daughter. Caleb is not through mourning his wife and he might never be, but he could agree to a marriage of convenience. And Audrey would be OK with that and maybe to love would happen later. The daughters bond immediately And with her and her mother keeping house, it runs smoothly, but Caleb and Audrey ever bonding is highly in question and he tends to hide at work all day rather than talk about it.
New Beginnings by Ms. Boone is a sweet western romance between two people who might be trying for love for the second time as both of their partners have died. I enjoyed this story as it told about how hard it is for some people to let go of a past love for various reasons. They started out as a marriage of convenience for their little girls, but eventually fell in love. Very sweet romance. I would recommend this author.
Facing dire financial circumstances after her husband dies, Audrey Norris moves with her mother and young daughter to Cutter’s Creek to meet Caleb Jefferson with the expectation of marrying him once they got to know each other. She hadn’t counted on how handsome he would be or how many problems he would still have from his wife’s death. But Audrey isn’t a quitter, and she’s determined to make this work.
Although I read this book quickly and enjoyed it, I never felt close to Caleb or Audrey and didn’t like them as much as I usually do the main characters. Placing “said” before the speaker instead of after bothered me, too. For example, “said Kathleen” instead of “Kathleen said.” There was also too much head-hopping. And the change in Caleb at the end came so abruptly I found it unbelievable. However, I must say, for the most part, the book still held my interest.
I not only read New Beginnings, Book 3, but all eight books in the Cutter's Creek Series. From Book 1 all the way to Book 8, I couldn't wait to delve into the next story, only to be really let down when I didn't have a Book 9, etc., to go to. This is my favorite type of reading material -- inspirational historical romance -- clean and excellent reading. I also enjoy the characters carrying over from book to book. I hope for more Cutter's Creek type books. Please, if you want to read good, clean stories, then you can't go wrong with this series. Cutter's Creek was certainly a "good reads" series. Get it, you'll be glad you did.

I really like the Cutter's Creek books. Different authors and one lovely little town.
Daisy, Audrey's daughter, stole my heart immediately. Beatrice, Caleb's daughter did the same. Audrey & Caleb brought a lump to my throat through most of the book, but I truly cheered when Audrey confronted him...something that I would have done!
The characters are sweet and I just couldn't help but get caught up in their lives. All were developed well & the dialogue was excellent.
Can you imagine leaving all you know to travel half way across the country to marry a virtual stranger? So many women did so! There weren't many options for women then, nor for the men. Both had to go on faith that the other was who they claimed to be.
This is a sweet, clean western mail-order bride series which can be read as a stand alone book. The series in order helps you get to know the whole town! Highly recommended
